El Poder de la Prevención

This initiative was granted in 2006 by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE)/Cancer and Cardio Pulmonary Disease (CCPD) Division competitive grants program. This project brings a health-focused show to Entravision radio on weekend mornings, featuring Dr. Elmer Huerta, a renowned Latino physician and President of the American Cancer Society. Dr. Huerta speaks to the audience about preventing and coping with chronic disease.

For this project, it was apparent that the hour-long Dr. Huerta radio program would benefit from a larger local audience and angle. Using direction provided by the CDPHE office, Entravision engaged local health experts-specifically those who are grantees of the CCPD competitive grants program-to come in and showcase their projects on shows such as Noticias Univision Colorado, through a series of live-to-tape two-minute interviews on Despierta Colorado and through inclusion in long form health programming.

Additionally, two remote broadcasts put on by Entravision radio will bring a grassroots aspect to CCPD grantee programs at two of Entravision's largest community events.
